Macy’s and Feeding America “Come Together” To Fight Hunger
Permalink: http://m80im.com/newsroom/2009/08/31/macys-come-together/Macy’s has launched COME TOGETHER, an innovative awareness and fundraising campaign that aims to feed 10 million people suffering from hunger. COME TOGETHER invites the public to rally around the cause by hosting special dinners in their homes and asking their guests to pledge a donation to Feeding America. In return, Macy’s will match these donations dollar-for-dollar until the total goal of 10 million meals is reached.
To get involved the public may participate in three ways Host, Give and Shop.
- HOST- Friends and families across the country can host dinner parties from casual to formal, send invitations and manage party details including themes and recipes on www.macys.com/cometogether. In lieu of bringing traditional host gifts, guests are suggested to make a donation to Feeding America.
- GIVE – Donate $1 directly at any Macy’s register, one dollar provides dinner for seven.
- SHOP - Macy’s customers can shop for the cause and get special savings in-store on October 17, when Macy’s hosts a national Shop For A Cause day. A portion of the $5 in-store ticket sales will benefit Feeding America.

To launch the campaign, Macy’s will host a special VIP dinner party with Martha Stewart and Emeril Lagasse on September 15th in its flagship Herald Square store. Also on that day, Macy’s is hosting the World’s Largest Dinner Party. This kick-off event will have customers join in the “first course” of the nationwide party to celebrate the launch.
In addition, Macy’s Culinary Council, made up of 15 world-renowned chefs including Emeril Lagasse, Tyler Florence, Todd English, as well as entertaining authority Martha Stewart, will serve as the experts of this campaign. They are offering up dinner party themes, recipe ideas, product suggestions and even their suggested playlists, to help America host delectable and entertaining dinners. A full schedule of events is available here.
The campaign will also launch with TV spots featuring Macy’s “Star” Designers Jessica Simpson, Queen Latifah, Mariah Carey, Usher, Martha Stewart, Emeril Lagasse, Tommy Hilfiger and Donald Trump.

I am a member of the First State Chef Association. One of our goals is to feed the hungry. Are all local food banks involved? Will the total donation be given to our local food bank? We would need documentation for tax purposes. We are non-profit. If it is not possible to do this a chapter, how would we host a dinner party? Is there a deadline date? I need as much info so I can present this to our board.

I have been trying to donate on line on Macy’s website but I can’t get it to work
How can I make m donation?

Customers can donate online at macys.com/cometogether and Macy’s will match donations up to 5 million meals so that together they can provide a total of 10 million meals to help feed families in need. Sounds like a great reason to throw a weekday get-together!

This is a great advertising campaign for a very worthy charity. It’s a smart move on Macy’s part, and the celebrities who participate will definitely get this back in good karma.

Its after a long time that I am seeing some one or may be a brand running a campaign for a charity event. Its such a wonderful idea and I wish that it becomes a success.

We had signed up for this and the Stafford Main Street hosted a Soup Supper on Dec 5 and deposited $567.12 that we thought was going to be matched from Macy’s for the Stafford Food Bank. I have sent this email once weeks ago with no response. Please answer this one.
After I went on line and looked at this I discovered that your only Food Bank you were recognizing was the big one in Wichita and that does not benefit us AT ALL. Please see how this might go through your channels and benefit the Stafford Food Bank that is overseen by the Stafford Ministerial Alliance. Thank you very much.

The youtube videos are well put together, however I liked the whole idea of the charity.

It is indeed a good idea. These days people are so concerned over charity. In this scenario we should support the people who are taking the initiative. I am up for them and their great idea.

The best thing about this is that, you can host it among your friends and families. Apart from a good time together, you are actually giving a lot to the charities too. I simply liked it.
